Junior "Nipper" Program - Christies Beach Surf Lifesaving Club

Welcome to Christies Beach NIPPERS
(Junior Surf Lifesavers)

Nippers range in age from 5 to 13 years and participate in age relevant fun aquatic activities.

You get to hang out on the beach in a safe and positive environment while learning new skills that may one day save a life.

Our nippers program offers a fabulous opportunity for children to develop friendships and community values.

Nippers will experience surf awareness while safely participating in beach and water activities while improving their fitness and competition skills.

Our juniors also get to compete in a range of different events including:

Beach events – individual and relay running on a straight sand course and our iconic flag event.
Surf craft events – using our specialised racing boards
Surf swimming – individual and team swim races
Wade – a shallow water run for our juniors
Iron Man and Women – competitors compete of three legs – swim, run and board
Cameron relay – a team event consisting of a run, swim, board
March past – one of the organisations original events
R&R – Rescue and resuscitation techniques are displayed using the Reel Line and Belt.

Summer Beach Training (Oct-Mar) Saturday 1.00 - 4.00pm

Pool Training
Year-round Noarlunga Aquatic Centre Thursday evening 7.00 - 8.00pm

What to Bring
The safety of your child is our priority

Sun safety - Broad brimmed hat, long sleeved shirt, SPF 50+

Water safety - Hi-Viz singlet, tight fitting rash top, bathers without pockets

Backup! Change of clothes, 2 x towels

A day in the life of Nipper

Summer - Saturday

12:45 - Arrive ready to go
1:00 - Briefing by Leaders and warm up run
1:15 - Begin rotations.

3:15-3:30 free play in the water (supervised by water cover)

3:30 pack -up everyone helps

3:40 Weekly Nipper swim ( open to parents too)
